Buckingham Palace guard slips and lands on his head in hilarious video: ‘I had to see it again to believe it’

Blimey!

A Buckingham Palace royal guard was seen slipping and falling while on duty. Hoping no one noticed his flip, he quickly stood up and pretended nothing had happened.

Unfortunately for him, Anthony Smith, a tourist from Liverpool, England, captured the embarrassing moment when the guard fell on his behind.

“I was just casually filming and it just slipped right by,” Smith explained to SWNS. “I had to see the video to believe it.”

In the clip, the guard wearing a tall bearskin hat and red tunic can be seen walking intently until one leg loses control and the man lands on his butt. Onlookers in the background can be heard laughing at the fall.

“People watching were shocked — everyone was like, ‘did that happen?'” Smith said.

Meanwhile, the King’s Guard quickly assembles by adjusting his hat and uniform and repositioning his rifle before returning to position.

“[He] bounced back quickly and recomposed, then he was right back in action,” Smith said.

Many people found the Palace guard’s mishap hilarious because they are known to maintain a stern demeanor no matter how many tourists try to break them out of their trance.

As previously reported by The Post, a Windsor Castle guard lost his cool in 2018 after a woman allegedly provoked him. A clip revealed that he pushed the tourist who was blocking his way during his routine exercise.

“The woman screams in shock before quickly walking away and the soldier continues to march,” the report said.

According to the British Army, the highly trained men guarding the exterior of the Royal Family Palace are trained to be prepared for anything. The job requires candidates to pass a physical fitness assessment and British Army recruitment battery test.

However, there are some unspoken rules that guards must follow, Londontopia explained. For example, guards cannot be touched if someone has permission to yell at them, guards cannot smile or move freely while on duty.

“The rules state that after standing still for at least 10 minutes, they can march up and down the street in order to stretch their legs and avoid passing out,” the page reads.

The job even requires their service members to pass out in a special way.

“If a Guard member faints, they have to make sure they pass out while still being alert, so that’s why you can find those images of them lying face down somewhere,” the instructions continued. .

Despite the strict rules, members of the King’s Guard earn a starting salary of around $33,000 and benefits include subsidized meals, free health and dental care and low-cost accommodation.
